School Board Members Complete Training Requirements

The members of the St. Bernard Parish School Board recently completed training for their jobs as Board members, a new state requirement for them to hold office. Act 705 of the 2010 Legislature requires continuing education annually for all School Board members state-wide.

Board President Diana Dysart, Vice-President Clifford Englande, Darlene Asevedo, Donald Campbell, Dr. Hugh C. Craft, Lynette DiFatta, William Egan, Joseph Long, Dr. Henderson Lewis, Jr., Ronald Nicosia and Sean Warner attended seminars on Ethics for Elected Officials, Campaign Finance Disclosure, Accountability and School Improvement Policies, Powers, Duties, and Responsibilities of School Boards, and the Open Meetings Law provision.

Warner and Lewis also received additional training on Finances for School Board Members and Teacher Evaluation, giving them the additional hours needed to apply for “Distinguished Board Member” status.

The certification for their training hours is certified by the Louisiana School Boards Association.
